Ayurveda philosophy

Ayurveda (pronounced Aa-yu-r-ve-da) is a Sanskrit word meaning the science of a healthy, long life.

The two words translated: Ayu = life and Veda = knowledge.

The earliest literature on this Indian medical practice came from the great sages of the Indus Valley over 5,000 years ago. Some of the oldest texts are the Charaka Samhita and Sushruta Samhita describing metaphysics, doshas, herbs, medicinal preparations and surgical procedures for the treatment of various ailments and diseases.

Ayurveda is classified as a system of Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) used to prevent disease or complement treatments already in progress with an existing physician.

This spiritual wisdom with deep roots is timeless and has survival tools to balance mind and body with our environment, season and relationships.
